So basically the guy who bought the car from ML hardly used it.
He was in London and it overheated and blew a top hose so he took it to Park Lane BMW and they replaced the hose but did not investigate why it over heated and blew the hose.
He collected the car from them and again, while in London it started to overheat so ended up getting the car recovered back to ML. Upon investigation it was found that the viscous was weak and the engine had been relying on the electric fan to keep the engine cool when stationary but that had packed up hence why the weak viscous was not up to the job of keeping the engine cool. A new genuine BMW electric fan and viscous fan coupling had the cooling performance back to how it should be.
When the car turned up the recovery truck it was noted that there was quite bad kerb damage to both the OS wheels. When the car was raised on the ramp to check the cooling system, the OSF leg dropped away from the car and it was found that the aluminium top mount had snapped!
As the transport company had the car 48h, one can only suspect that some twat took it for a spin and hit both the OS wheels taking out the mount in the process.
So one new top mount and a wheel alignment and it was now driving as it should.
Fast forward 6 months after virtually no response to emails, phone calls etc to the owner prompting him to pay his bill we get a call from the finance company saying they wanted to come a reposes the car as the owner had stopped paying for it!
As there was an outstanding repair and storage bill it was going no where until that was paid.
So to cut a long story short, the finance company wanted a sum of money for the car and the bill had to be paid at ML so i did that after the owner handed over all of the paperwork and history for the car via the finance company.
