Novice e30 - 335i (e34) rebuild advice

Hi guys, would you recommend a person with no expeirence what so ever in automotive work, i have recently bought a e34 m30b35 manual engine and gear box and i am considering as the engine and gearbox are not in the car, to try and recondion (or) upgrade it myself to get the best performance.
Would you guys reccomend this?
And isit really that difficult?

Hello Moshin, it really depends on you and your attitude/patience, a big thing in your favor is that every person in every trade started from a knowledge base of zero at some stage.
I was educated for office work, instead became an electrician, now 55 and have rebuild fords, holdens/chevy's, saw the light and moved to BMW's, an e28 528i, e28 m535i (a car I have fond memories of), e34 535i, kids left home and I have always been in love with the e30 and now 2 x e30 318i, one swapping to an m50b28, have rebuild engines, 5 stud swaps, big bakes and diffs (lsd) 3 and 4 clutches, I've a bit of experience, there are guys on this forum that have forgotten more than I will ever know, guess what? They all started from where you are now.
Research and when you think you have done enough research, do some more, research and the forum here are your greatest friends, just have a go and be prepared to make some mistakes, ask here for help.
There is no feeling like rebuilding an engine, timing it right, turning it over a few times to get oil pressure up, enabling the ignition system and then she fires up first time.
My m30b35 I chipped and replaced the AFM with MAF, bored out my throttle body and did extractors/exhaust.
