Morning all,
Hope someone can point me in the right direction I have the ZF box from an e36 to fit the m52b28 and I was wondering if the m20b20 flywheel (lightened) would go in with m20b20 starter and a Sachs clutch for the m20b25?
Next question is gear linkages from what I've heard the 320i e30 ones will be a direct fit for the ZF box? So I won't need to change anything there?
Also if anyone knows the part number for the spigot bearing I need to get would be most appreciated the m52 came out of a 328i automatic.
Thanks alex

Oh brilliant thanks it's good to hear that.
So what gear linkages did you use for the zf box?
Also I didn't get a clutch fork with the gear box.
Sorry to keep asking silly questions but from what I've heard I need to put a spigot or pilot bearing in which I was lead to believe is not the same thing as the release bearing? Sorry if I'm being thick here, gear boxes and clutch kits are something I'm not to familia working with as have never needed to change one before.
Thanks

The spigot bearing is situated at the back of the engine block, its for the shaft on the gearbox to sit in to keep things steady.
I'm not sure what size you need but if you measure the shaft that's sticking out of your gearbox bell housing with a digi mic whatever the thickness is that's the size spigot bearing you ask the dealer for.Not that expensive iirc

The spigot bearing sits in the end of the crank to locate the gearbox shaft. If your M52 came from an auto car, you will need to buy and fit a spigot bearing to the crank.... autos don't have them.
Two sizes are available 12mm and 15mm iirc, so measure the gearbox shaft to get the right bearing. Or buy both and return the unused one - they aren't expensive.
If your M52 was from a manual car, chances are there will be a bearing in the crank and most likely be the right size for the ZF box, but it's always worth checking the bearing is still fitted and the correct size. You might want to consider renewing an old bearing whilst it's all apart just for piece of mind.
