I have the choice of 17x7.5 or 17x8 or even a mammoth 17x8.5 but am concerned about catch the inside of the arch.

Anyone here running 17x8 on the front that could shed some light? If I was to go with that I'd use 205/40/17 tyres for the stretched look.

Time will tell Dan

Just went and checked all the kit and realised I can't make an 8" rim, only 7.5 or 8.5!

Edit: an 8.5" rim will be ET15

Barsteward!

Ben (bootyman) must be running this size on the fronts?

Edited as i realised you would never run 9.5s on the rear!

is there no side effect of running different size tyres on the front and rear?

8.5 allround dude

i think nav786 also has this size tyre planned/running?

what tyres are you going to use?

PS superb article in TBMW jim, v. impressive.

Ta!

Well seeing as I still need 2 outer rims to get chromed then...I have an idea

The rears just need to be assembled and tyres fitted so I spose I can just put them on the front then see what happens!

i think i know what wheels you have!

is there a price difference in 7.5 and 8.5 tyre?

surely 7.5 would be too stretched?

with an 8.5" rim on the front you will have about 1cm gap from the strut. i put 9" et 15 on my fronts and they hit the strut, and need about 5mm room.

I'm guessing jim u want a bit of handling still, so imo 7.5 is as far as i would go. If it's wider it's probably a case of offset. I've always been told 7.5 is as wide as u want to go on the front, any wider and u will fun into a few probs of mainly rubbing issues i expect.

Plus wider rears look proper not that i am biased at all :D

Dan theres no probs with running different tyre sizes front and rear, it's all about keeping each axle the same for a start.

A little birdy told me what rims u have aquired very impressive! take your time and do it right!

8.5 i expect would look great on the back! again offset is the key! u have the drop and now the wheels, go make it work and bin the burger kings!
