I've noticed that I'm missing a part on my battery tray (under bonnet). The part appears to be a small metallic shield that bolts to the end of the tray with a hole for a loom to clip to it.
Try as i might i can't locate it on real oem.
the best photo i can find is
http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86844
its the small rusty shield at the corner of the tray I'm trying to locate..
I can only assume mine rusty away some years ago and was removed!
ny help would be most welcome.
cheers
Gary

Is that not not there to secure the battery? - the usual E30 piece is missing in the pic.

That socket is for a lambda sensor, usually clipped to the underside of the battery tray when not used iirc, but that was on my 325i with the battery in the boot. That bracket above could be for it if the battery gets in the way of the clip coming through the tray??diable wrote:I have this on mine,
and I believe this used to be attached to it, if you unscrew the cap there are 4 pins located inside, not too sure what its for, maybe the loom is held to it via a plastic clamp.

Thanks for posting the photo diable, that black plug is for the lamba sensor and fastens under the tray via a clip..i had to replace the end of mine as it would not push through under the tray.
The tab/shield (not sure what to call it) that is touching the loom in your photo and bolted to the battery is the very part I'm after..and I'm struggling to find it on real oem,,i may need to see if Cotswolds can iD it....i gather that this is a part common to all e30's???..anyone have any idea?

cheers Diable. The clip is no 5 (i think)..i have the clip..this is on the loom. It was when i could see it had nothing to plug into i realised a part was absent (likely lost over the years by a carless previous owner).
Mine is also a cabby, ...is this a cabby only part..??
I will settle for a good used one (would rather new) but its bugging me that i can't find any reference to it on real oem.
Im going to ask Cotswolds to assist in the hunt.
cheers
