Lots more sports seem to be coming on the market about the £10k mark. Are they really worth it ??

Would anyone seriously have one over something like this ??

Got to admit i wouldn't - in my opinion every cars max value is dictated by what else is available at the price hence I used to have some really nice classic Fords but i wouldn't bother now as the values far exceed their quality / performance now

Yer, i'd also take a 911 over a 325i sport every time.

A 996 C2 is like the 4dr 320i auto of the 911 world.

I'd rather have a nice E46 M3 manual coupe but they are hard to find now at £10k.

Ah, you've just gone and introduced something different - that wasn't the original question! :D

always been an e30 & bmw in general fanboi but if i had the budget & a porker like that cropped up then sad to say i'd be driving away in Stuttgart's finest.

very much doubt i'd find an early or late aircooled 911 2.7 rsr though.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

True it's a C2 manual but it only needs a couple of K more to get a C4

C4 must be the 325ix equivalent then

A static with a porker next to it would look wrong where as a Static with a sport looks perfect! :D
I like a Porsche or AMG but live in real world knowing 1 breakdown could/would bankrupt me!

If you don't need 4 seat then 10k buys a lot of car. 10k is now the bottom end of the Z4M market. V10 M5s fall into that as well as lots of ageing merc AMG stuff.
However there are still older and nicer looking 911s for 10k out there than the 996.

I can't understand why anyone would pay the kind of prices E30 M3s go for, at £30k and likely needing a load of work you can get a first generation dodge viper.

Think with a year 2000 pocker/similar is youl loose money on it /price will fall during ownership, and running costs , I bet brakes etc are not cheap

When you see say a restored 1.3 Fiesta supersport for 7 grand or a mk4 xr3 for 4 grand a sport seems cheap ?

Prices will only rise

I would love an 80s 911 mind

10k will get you right into the very bottom of the usable 911 ladder, and IMO, it wouldn't be worth it's up keep!

You'd be better off with the best early Boxster, according to Porsche fans, they are a really good car to drive!

The well-known chocolate engine issues with 996s and Boxsters would put me off taking the plunge”¦ Definitely not up for paying £10K for a piece of black headlining though 8O

I have had a few 996 / 997 911's but would not buy one without the 'Mezger' engine due to the well known engine issues.
I now have an e30 M3 and I enjoy it more than any other car I have owned :D

Not all 996's have engine troubles, but the thought is always there. At the very least, gearbox off and replace the IMS bearing. Hopefully the cylinder issues won't crop up. 10 grand should buy a decent 996 with a good history. They are a great car and they go well, but running costs could be eye watering.

10k will buy a very good E46 M3 if you're patient and sort through the scrap.

I wouldn't pay 10 grand for a 325i of any sort.

I look at these from time to time and I do not like the thought of a £10k Z4M.

The E30's are climbing in value for the same reasons the classic fords did.

Low Running costs, simple mechanics, responsive RWD chassis and easily tuneable. The E30 has the benefit of actually being useable everyday too, and quite a pleasant cabin.

The 911 is none of those things, so as usual, you pay your money and make your choice.

Id take a 996 turbo over an E30 M3 though

On the face of it, this looks like the best 10k could buy you!
