Hi guys, got a car I've wanted for years a 325i sport tech 2!
It has 130k with mostly bmw and bmw specialist history. It has mhw rear lights which I've been told are rare?

Plans for it are to get it mechanically sound, needs a few bushings doing and suspension + track rod ends. Then sort the body work side of things, rear arches and anything else I can find on the way.

I was going to change the wheels back to the 15" bbs I have but these 17" alpina reps are sort of growing on me , I also want to swap out the front seats for original front seats as it has black leather out of a convertible, the rear seats are original black leather and look to have never been sat in! I also want a rear blind parcel shelf for it and an e30 phone lol, will keep this post updated with all the bits getting done! Let me know what you think!

I think pacerpete may the correct leather seats for you and could do you a deal on the Cabrio fronts

MHW are rare and if they are crack free are worth a few quid. Personally I'd keep them on but source some originals

BK's are no lol

Looks like a good base to improve upon. Wheels need to go though!

Another vote for dumping those wheels ASAP! I'd also echo what Kos says, keep those MHW lights, but also source some OEM ones.

Have you had a good poke around for the standard rust dramas?

Yeah think I will swap the wheels over! Had a fair bit of welding to a good standard before I bought it, rear arches are shot however and will need replacing, 1 microscopic bubble at the top of the wing/scuttle bit, hacking points are good, inside the bulkhead near accelerator pedal has a small patch of rust? But other than that sunroof and all other bits are good

Don't look a bad starting point this!

But like the above comments loose the wheels.

If you decide to switch the seats I have a black leather interior available also.

Finally got round to updating this, so here goes, i had the car about a week and swapped the wheels over to some freshly powder coated 15" BBS with 4x dunlop fast response tyres on. I knew that the car needed body work doing to it when i bought it so after id removed the boot carpet and trims and had a poke about it revealed this.

Image

(The part in the last picture, is that a fuel filler/breather or something along those lines?)

The inner arches + outer arches and rear panel needed replacing, as well as various other bits and bobs needed doing so off to the bodyshop the car went, last picture i had of the car before it went to the bodyshop about 3 months ago :(

Image

So with the car getting sorted in the bodyshop i started sorting some bits and bobs for it. I sourced a powder coated rocker cover, inlet and a parcel shelf with a blind from Nav.

Image

Image

I then sourced a set of mint original parcel shelf speakers to fill the holes in it

Image

The shelf needed a freshen up so soon went black and speakers were fitted
Image

Got some dealer plates from Pukar designs :D

Image

I wanted a head unit with aux and usb input but something that also looked original and found this clarion unit for around £50 which is almost an exact colour match to the e30's amber lighting, it looks pretty retro too! Will look like this when fitted (not my picture)

Image

Spent silly amounts at the dealers buying seals, gear knob, bonnet foam and other bits

Image

I don't think my mum was too happy with how my bedroom was looking ;)

Image

The front seats in the car when i got it were from a cabby, so i sourced 2x front sport seats and had them and the rear bench refurbished, now they look amazing!

Image

Meanwhile I bought a nice little 318is, last owner 16 years, sat for the last 10 years, this will keep me busy once the sport is finished!
(I know it has odd headlights :D)

Image

Image

Went to see the car last monday, will be getting it back in the next couple of weeks, here is how things are in the body shop after new rear panel, rear inner and outer arches, ive also opted to have the ariel hole welded up as that was letting in a lot of water and i do not use the radio anyway

Image

Image

Image

So thats everything up to date, the car will be back in a few weeks then there is the following to do:

- Engine service and belts
- Fit inlet manifold and rocker cover
- A few suspension bushes need replacing
- Fit speed touch ECU chip
- Remove MHW's and fit original rear lights
- Clean carpet
- Re fit interior
- Fit gear knob
- Fit sunroof seal + rear light seals
- Fit bonnet insulation foam
- Fit brake pads and discs
- Fit black floor mats
- Fit number plates and dealer stickers
- Fit original fire extinguisher and bracket to seat

I also need to source a more standard/original looking back box and a Z3 rack with all the pipes and bits needed to fit it if anybody knows of anything about. Will also be getting new washer bottles to tidy the bay up a bit

I plan to get the car on the road before my 21st birthday in May and just enjoy it over the summer before its tucked up away again for the winter :D

Good work there Sam

I wonder what Polsta will have to say about you welding up the antenna hole, he only took up 17 pages of forum space and bandwidth discussing where it should go and you've welded up and original one :D

If you plan on keeping this one, id keep the antenna. In about 10 years time you'll start listening to LBC and Radio 2

Thanks Kos! And to each their own, the car is staying for the forseable future until i have enough for an m3 lol, and its not the end of the world as most of my music is on my phone even if i do decide i want to listen to the radio i can via my phone, failing that i would get a DAB radio with an internal ariel but i like it as it is for now

And thank you Mr-Lachs, will try update it more frequently as more work is done and as its nearer to being finished. I will also start a thread for the 318is in the next week or so :D
