Is anyone running the purple tag e46 clubsport rack on a m52b28 converted e30?

I already have the rack and I'm aware that I need to make a linkage from other ones but is there anything else I should know before attempting to fit it?

Same as for any other E30. M52 manifolds will need modding anyway so it's just a case of the well-documented custom splined shaft with two E34 UJs or corsa linkage.

If you are getting high pressure lines made up, you will need to specify the thread size for the outlet on the PAS pump. Iirc these are different from an E30 and may even be different between early and later M52s. Worth checking.

If you have made your manifolds to clear an E30 rack then there is 99.99% chance they won't work with an E46 rack

I have PAS pipe kits available as always BTW 8)

Why not, does the e46 rack sit closer to the manifolds then?

Is there no way I could move the mounting points for the rack slightly, I'm a welder/fabricator by trade. I don't know how much adjustment there would be on the rack to adapt to the movement :/

I'm a Faber as well mate but there isn't any other way round it.A lot of people were using e36 racks and still do.
The e46 is quicker and newer

Have a look in the wiki section and everything will be explained.
They fit but things need modifying to fit and work properly

I've read the wiki on it and it doesn't seem like too much fuss but I just wanted to see which rack was best suited to the m52 engine. Looks like I'm selling the e46 rack then lol

Your going to have to mod the 36 pipes anyway so you may as well buy some shiny new ones to suit the 46 (just one less hassle) :)

I've got the Z3 rack with my M52, got the pipes from Dan. It's got less lock than my old rack from a 36 so I would avoid one of these. The linkage is fairly easy to sort when its all open in engine bay, I did the corsa/ e30 hybrid and it seems to be good. I found there's quite a few variants on pas pump outlets over models, mine was from a 728 and wasn't suitable. Hope all goes well.

Here's my old linkage, ( supplied e34 uj's & old e30 linkage) to Dan & he returned it ready to fit. Worked a treat!

This was connected to an E46 purple tag rack, which from experience felt by far the best.
