I've been thinking the handling is feeling a bit 'old' recently, ie, bouncy, wallowie, crash bang whallop.

The shocks must be buggered after 15 years, so I want to replace them. I want to stick with original kit, so do i have to go to the stealers or are they just as good from ECP?

Also, do the springs need to be replaced as well, or do they not change with age? Bearing in mind, i want to keep everything as it was originally.

Any advice would be appreciated, oh, and does anyone know how much i should expect to pay to get these replaced.

Your best bet is to get a spring damper set up from GSF or ECP, they're quality is the same as the standard stuff too, but for half the price.
Expect to pay about Ԛ£150-200.

There are also plenty of other parts though that could be causing your aged feel, such as top mounts, bushes, balljoints and track rod ends.

If your budget stretches to it, try and change as much as possible, the car will feel like a new car again afterwards.

Hi Simon,

It's Phil, after your email yesterday it prompted me to join in again, I have sent my other email address to you as well. I registered as Ceeman, just to annoy Giles really.

Thanks for your advice. I have already replaced the rear axle beam bushes, that helped, but i would guess the others probably need doing as well. When you have work done on your E30, what hourly labour rate would you expect to be paying? I'm just wondering what's normal.

Glad you decided to join again Phil!

TBH I'm not to clued up on labour rates as I do most things myself, anything I can't do myself my friend does for me, he owns his own garage so it's handy!

I wonder if Giles has spotted this thread yet!?
