Hello gurus,

I currently have just a pair of original speakers in the front footwell and my rear parcel shelf is unmolested.

While the carpet was out, I fitted some nice thick speaker cable to the back and its currently lying under the rear parcel shelf and I'm itching to do something with it:

1. premium sound speakers on top of the parcel shelf
2. cut the shelf and install some period 5.25" speakers
3. cut the shelf and install some bigger ones
4. something else?

I'm looking for inspiration. What would you do? :?

4. buy another shelf with the holes already there in the correct position and put the unmolested one in the loft :D

Yeah, number 4 would upset me less and that's good for the car but what would be best from a sound point of view?

Best thing would be to save your current shelf as Dan said.

Buy a new shelf and put your current front speakers in it, then upgrade the front speakers.

The rear speakers are just for rear fill, the front speakers are way more important for sound quality.

Brill,
What would be a sensible choice of front speakers?

Yep,
Read all that thanks, the WiKi always gets me going...
Dynomatted behind the speakers in the cavity, didn't do the Mdf ring thingy.
£100? For a pair of front speakers?
Should I get some premium sound tweeter pods and will they fit a prefacelift? Or will standard speakers be ok?
I'm a complete newby to this.
Thanks for your input :)

You'll need some slim speaker 5.25" of course. I've read that E34 speakers are good. Mdf ring isn't required with these IIRC.

I have no experience of premium tweeters in pre facelift vehicles. They look good but are expensive to buy. I just screw my tweeters in to the mirror back blanks.
