Those of you who know me know I own the car so no need for zone police!! And PM if you'd rather not make it public knowledge.

But how the hell do you bypass those POS retro fit Clifford alarms? I've been giving the sport a going over during the summer. And the battery has run flat and the Clifford alarm fob has suffered a misshap.


When the car has power (battery on charge) the hazards flash and the alarm buzzes but the siren doesn't sound, it's just a intermittent buzzing. The alarm can't be disarmed as the fob was crushed, spare fob battery has been flat a while leading me to believe it won't ever disarm the alarm.

I'd rather just bypass it to get the car started now, then have the alarm professionally removed at a later date.

Any ideas? PMs welcome too.

Think I've got a Clifford wiring diagram knocking about somewhere. That will show you where it's spliced into the E30 loom. Even for a wiring numpty it's only an afternoon's work armed with both wiring diagrams and a few tools to remove.

It's not difficult to remove an alarm,most alarms only disarm one or two thingsFind the unit trace the wires and see which ones spliced apart.Usually the starter and fuel pump.Find em and join them back up,job done!
No need to be a 'professional' just common sense :)

What's his game then? Does he install them, remove them? Auto sparky?

Removing a clifford is easy as its usually only cable tied in with a few wires twisted/taped in an easily accessible/viewable location :)

I've had the dash out again now, and it actually looks like a half decent job!

The alarm will be connected to the car by some wires that are spliced into existing wires, and some where the existing wire has been cut, and the two cut ends connected to two wires from the alarm.
The former will be things like earth, power (red or red/x), indicators (blue/black and blue/red), door/boot pin switches (x/brown), etc. The alarm wires to these can simply be disconnected, and bare wires carefully insulated.
The latter, where the E30 wires have been cut, will be the immobiliser wires. These will be one or more of plain green (ignition), green/purple (fuel pump) and black/yellow (starter). There are better wires that the immobiliser can be connected to, but I have NEVER come across an E30 connected to any other than those I have listed.
To remove the immobiliser, simply follow the wires from the alarm box to where they join to the wires I've listed, cut the alarm wires away, join the pairs of wires with matching colours together and carefully insulate.
