Right - the success you guys are having with your Megasquirt systems has inspired me to have a go myself!
I've had big problems with both the fuelling and ignition in my 3 litre stroker ever since it was installed - the MAF and Unichip conversion just does't seem to be able to cope with it along with a 10.5:1 CR. For this reason, I think I am going need to go for both fuel and spark from the MS. I have looked around both on here and e30tech.com, but still have a couple of questions on how to wire it into an e30:
- Did you re-use many of the existing e30 sensors for the new ECU? Reading up in my Bentley manual, E30s seem to have all the required sensors (bar a TPS) - I lost my IAT sensor when I got the MAF, but I would have thought that the Engine/coolant temperatures and crank position sensor could be wired in - is this what you guys have done, or are they not compatible?
- With the TPS, did you modify your existing body - I was thinking about one off an auto 535 - I believe they have a TPS built in - bigger bore as well...
- Did you use the relay board that goes along with the MS? Or did you wire everything into the existing E30 relays? Is it futile to try and leave everything possible in place so that if for some reason I could not complete the MS installation, I could easily go back to how it is now?
I would appreciate any help you can give me on this.

as always, more than one method can be employed
I used the MS "kit" sensors, complete standalone harness and an M50TPS for the install, easily removed and put back to stock as and when required
you can re-use the stock BMW NTC coolant sensor but you'll need to use EasyTherm to alter the code or change the bias resitor in the MS hardware, both are fully explained in the Manual.
As your harness has already been opened up to add the Dastek, I'd favour a freh start complete install anyway, easier to troubleshoot if you have an issue at a later date
With regards to the relay board........ nope !, I bought one but soon realised we'd end up using the MS relay to switch the Stock units, so hardwired the MS without in the end, just one output to hook up TBH, ign on, MS on, output to existing DME relay to power the injectors and throw the fuel pump relay.
the MS has the same resoloution as the motronic so you'll be loosing nothing, two choices still though, MS1 or MS 2 ??
MS1 has the _extra giving 12x12 but MS2 offers 100x the resoloution on PWM, retaining the stock injectors gives a highe Re_Fuel setting so the resoloution may not be an issue.
All I can say is I have nothing but praise for the system, 100% reliable and once mapped correctly gives awesome throttle response, better than stock including a tiny biit of turbo lag
Yes its not "the best" on the market, but for a 30 year old 2 valve mill, its plenty good enough IMHO

I can sort you all the pinouts for the wiring too mate, what number to which etc, not a problem
to make it easier you can purchase the "simpler" MS V2.2 and feed a load signal to the existing DME to enable the mapped sparks to run as if the AFM was still in place
