I am wanting to make the engine look a bit smarter, ie black inlet manifold and black rocker with polished raised bits, possibly shines bolts etc,
Any ideas/what people use to achieve this look, is it a case of just spraying the bits as at the moment the bay is looking very aged!

Thanks rob

Pretty much. Degrease the parts thoroughly, key with some sandpaper, etch prime then top coat. Then sand the raised sections

Would I have to use any particular paint? Or just normal car paint? I only ask as obviously heat from exhaust manifold might bubble the paint on the rocker cover?

When I have done it in the past I have just used regular spray paint and it's held up fine.

I guess it depends how far you want to go.....

I really would recommend getting the parts vapour blasted first. You may even decide they look fine in their "as new" state.

Crackle black paint is the one!!!!!

you can painstakingly scrape / file down the "fins" and logos or take them to an engineering shop and get them "surface ground" looks very very smart indeed.

Block of wood with sandpaper round it is an easy way to sand the fins down. Doesn't take very long
