I bought an old timer E30, the engine is 2.4 diesel swapped, and the old engine was 2.0. Anyway, since the time I bought the car, exhaust is throwing black smoke from the car. Normally, I would think it's up to engine oil, but I replaced an oil and it still gives me black smoke from exhaust.
This usually happens on higher revs so I think it may be up to air compression, might be too small or broken. I also heard that I should try to clean my EGR valve, the problem is I haven't had any experience with it before so a write up or any tips.
If anyone know any other idea what it could be, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

As far as I know, there is no EGR valve on the M21B24.....
Black smoke at high revs from a diesel is normally to much fuel. there could be a problem with the fuel injection pump.
