No doubt i'll get shot down in flames for this, but can people not understand the difference between migrants and refugees?? These people are fleeing for their lives, not to try and enter Europe just to do a bit of cash in hand work and milk the system. Yes, Britain is a small island with limited space but if anything can be done to prevent fellow human beings, regardless of colour or religion, from being ruthlessly exterminated then it should be done, if only on a temporary basis. I agree, this could and should have been nipped in the bud but for whatever reasons it wasn't. It frustrates the hell out of me that the coallition forces don't say "enough is enough" and then wipe these animals off the face of the planet in the space of a few weeks. The polish builders who restored the grade 2 listed house next door to me clearly knew what they were doing. 12 hour + days, every day until the total rebuild was done.
Done properly too, not some lash up by a clueless English builder with no idea on traditional building techniques.

Only an anecdotal but one of my other half's colleagues has a daughter who has a migrant in their class at school (out in the Essex/ East London borders). Four months ago, said infant couldn't speak a word of English, now they're fluent and top of the class in grades. There's something to be said for the hunger to succeed/ improve your lot driving you forward.

In contrast a lot of the white middle class kids I know are going backwards soci-economically because they have had it easy so far.. they think the world revolves around them and that the world owes them a living. That is turning out not to be the case..

When push comes to shove, Syryan refugees come from a country that''s been fucked from a situation WE have created. A pity the US is so far away because they should also be shouldering some of this. Has Tony got a spare room or two?

Thing is though Dan, none of those countries started a war. They already have extreme oil based wealth and don't need to fight anyone other than in defence.
Simply put, what's going on in Iraq, Syria etc is none of their business. They're not interested.
Kuwait was invaded by Iraq in 1990 after reneging on a deal with Saddam Hussein leading to the first Gulf war - Kuwait backed Iraq in the Iran Iraq war. We shoved the Iraqis back into Iraq and left it there - and that should have been that. Saddam licks his wounds, gasses a few Kurds, job done. I've got a Ugandan/ Indian builder at the moment, best builder I've ever had. I've also used English builders on this job. Any English ones still in business after the Polish invasion must be doing something right

Paying about £170 at the moment The English ones left seem to working to rebuild their dodgy cash/ bodge reputation, hence they're mostly invoice and VAT merchants now
