Does anyone have a secret on removing the Thermostat housing?

I am replacing a broken one on my M20 and I just can't get the bugger off.

You mean just the face or the complete housing? The outer part is just 3 bolts and it's off? Could be slightly stuck, but should easily pry out with a screwdriver?

I mean the complete housing. The housing is on 2 studs and I have managed to move the top of it alittle but the bottom is just not moving.

Screwdriver, Hammer, the lot.

Nightmare.

Corrosion on the studs is the problem. WD40, or whatever you prefer, into the space around the studs, and keep it moving. It'll evenyually come loose.
