No power, car wont rev out ? Help Faulty Relays ?

Hi guys, so I noticed my e30 318i M40 started to have a er acted idle, to which I noticed the engine / car seem to shake occasionally on idle. I thought it was an air leak, therefore checked the pipes, cleaned out the ICV, throttle body, cleaned the plugs and the idle problem seemed to have solved itself. Before I done this though, the previous day she was getting longer and harder to start, it seemed to be every 3rd ignition turnover she would fire, which is why I thought then she wasn't getting enough fuel / pressure. So I checked the pump, which it seemed to be working fine, and getting 12-14 volts.

I had read somewhere about a relay going for the ECU / and the relay for the fuel pump?.. Would this be a possibility.

Car wont rev out at all, it cuts all power when I put down full power. However if I turn the car on and off occasionally it will rev out.

Its a head scratcher, but if anyone has heard of seen of similar problems, the help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check the fuel pump relay, and the Zone guide here:

A new fuel filter may also help, if it hasn't been changed in yonks, like on many E30s!

What does the rev. counter do EXACTLY, when all this is going on?

Thanks guys I will try that, I think I done the resistant test away back last year as well, when I replaced the blue plug. She also seems to be raising in temperature when stuck in traffic, well she sits above half way mark. Its weird, if I turn her of and on quickly, she will rev completely out, then if i let her sit a minute she could turn funny again. Love E30 logic lol

the rev counter doesnt really do much, there just is no power at all, its almost as if their is to much fuel and its making her conk out. I am going to test spark tonight. If the fuel pump is working and their is 12v would this mean that the relay is ok? thanks again folks
