I just found out from my mechanic what my car needs doing to it....

Engine mount
Main bearings
Big end bearings
Pressure release valve

The parts are going to cost me just over Ԛ£250 :(
God know what the labour is going to be

Sorry to hear that...
But mine was a similar story
Took my 325is for mot last feb and it failed on 23 different points, luckily my dad is an engineer and knows everything about cars and fortunately welding so got it done... Took about a month...
Then took it back to same mot station but tested by different person, failed on 17 different points which were not included in the first mot..... :x
Again over the next month fixed all the points that came up in the second mot...
Then actually passed an mot!!!!! :D
1 Month later, exhaust manifold started blowing so went to take it off and found two bolts which had been snapped in the cylinder head........plus the petrol tank started leaking....will it ever end?
Ended up so far spending 1800 quid on the car and now its lined up for new injection pipes, new cylinder head and camshaft and a full respray.... winkeye

Stevie, not really cheering you up here, but i would look for another engine to swap in there mate. Ԛ£100 for a solid engine max and prob Ԛ£150-Ԛ£200 for the spanner work., or maybe see if you can get a decent short engine from somewhere?

Thats what i would do as well. you can get another engine for cheap. if its the same engine, its an easy swap. you can change the gaskets/belts/mounts at the same time and it'll be good for a few more years.

Well, to add to my bad luck, ive just been told I may be getting made redundant next month :(

Ever feel like youve had enough.

If I get my engine worked on though, I know its going to be good and reliable, where as, if I go for another engine, that could have the same problems within a month.
