I was just reading the Wiki swap guide and it states that the cromie changed from the oblong c101 plug to the round one during the 87 facelift but my C reg ( 85/6) Cromie has the round C101 is the 87 date an Americanisim as with other Wiki info ?

That's wrong. The round 20 pin C101 was used from sept '85 during the slight facelift to metal bumper cars with. revisions to all models with the introduction of the 325i to replace the 323i.
