Can someone just confirm for me that ive ordered the correct part.
I phoned the dealer today and ordered 1996 Z3 1.9 stick and a new nylon cup that it sits in.Price is about Ԛ£23 all in.
Is this the right model parts ive ordered?
They are in for me to collect on Wednesday.

Thanks for the link Steve.
After reading through that, ive decided to stick with the 1.9 one as the main thing is the car is still drivable, misses uses it every day and can see a lot of moaning coming my way if she cant get it in gear!
Besides cant be any worse than standard.
Thanks fellas

Ive bought a z3 1.9 one for my car as although it seems like a reasonable difference in throw it should still be nice to drive with as the others are a little notchy.

Well with the Zone being off,it gave me time to get on and fit the new gearstick.
What can i say, anyone thinking about doing this conversion,go and order the parts now.
The difference is very noticable and improves driving no end.
And the whole thing cost a total of Ԛ£23
Best money ive spent on this car so far!

Seems a fair compromise, plus the misses drives the car a lot and i couldnt be arsed putting up with the moaning if id have gone any shorter.
Still impressed though, even the misses said it feels a lot better now,now that was a shock

Yeah I kinda know - that's why I got it...stevetigger wrote:That the one you got is a smaller throwZiggy wrote:What's your point steve?

Chu;
I had to take the vibration damper off the prop to fit it - you'd have to bend it otherwise but I'm not really sure how you'd go about doing that!
Me & E30Adam did a back to back comparison with his car (1.9 lever) & we both concluded the 2.8's the way to go... Wouldn't want it to be any shorter though; it barely moves going into 2nd / 4th as it is!

Looking at the picture of all of the levers, the Z3 2.8 and Z4 3.0 will have the same throw but the Z4 3.0 will reduce the height of the stick.
I already have a Z3 2.8 one and really like it so I might go for the Z4 3.0 just to reduce the height of the stick.
Short Shifters are really one of the best upgrades for E30's (and E34 M5's!)

I thought that too when someone (Demlot?) first suggested the z4 lever... It looks like a slightly shorter throw to me though...M5pilot wrote:Looking at the picture of all of the levers, the Z3 2.8 and Z4 3.0 will have the same throw but the Z4 3.0 will reduce the height of the stick.

Not sure a shorter stick's necessarily better anyway - further from the steering wheel...
Decisions, decisions! Think the 2.8's best for me though, which is good seeing as that's what I've got!
Oh, & the powerflex TCA bushes are a damn good upgrade too... ;)

i also fitted a 1.9 and did not have clearance issues
i have used hosys 2.8 on a 318i; i think he had to bend it; the 2.8 is so so much tighter than the 1.9 lever its untrue
iv been told its the nuts once you get use to it though
