I've got one, had it fitted to my 320i then I transfered it to my 325i. Its pretty well made but is a bit noisier than I'd hoped for. I paid £400 about three years ago for complete system from manifold back. Good price and service I'd say and is guaranteed for life so that's not bad. Even if it's a bit loud. I'm going back to more standard system now as want to be more undercover.
I used Taunton branch btw.

Yeah, Neil is a good chap. His welding is spot on.
Other than noise, how's the system? He can quieten it down - a mate had a straight through built for his V8 Jeep, but it was too much, so a few months later Neil added some baffle inserts and it's about perfect now.
Gavla - the quality of longlife depends on who's building it. If the guy can weld, you should have no problems.

Other than the noise it's good. I prefer the look of some tail pipes I've seen on other systems (slightly wider) but cant fault the quality. Didn't really notice any performance boost.

Mine is ok now.. When I first got it I noticed after a very short time the bam box didn't sit straight, worse though was the fact that it was chucking all the e-glass out the tail pipe, it was all I've the back of the car. To be fair they had it straight back and replaced the silencers, turned out to be a manufacturing defect.
For reference mine is made using 50mm tube as per the original Alpina system, they also joined up to the Alpina down pipes, I got it done at the Basingsoke branch. A guy at work has a longlife on his Saab 99 turbo, it's a crap car but the exhaust is nice!!! He had his done at Bicester, if I'm honest I'd say his is better made than mine, in fact they are going to be fettling my Alpina 6 branch at some point.

Had a full system built for my turbo technics XR2 a few years back, 2 1/4" single silencer, 2 1/2" rolled out tip.
It wasn't loud enough!!!!
At no point could you ever hear the exhaust over the turbo (it was only a t25)
Cant fault the quality, but remember they don't use a mandrel, so keep that in mind if your looking for a performance gain!
I would probably give Simpson a call if I was to get another custom system made.

Well i dont know if my opinions count,, but i am running complete stainless from manifold 2x2 42mm in to 2 x 63mm and just using ONE single rear muffler also made out of SS in same that was well packed with special heat rock wool
my engine is a V12 M70B50,,, and the sound is just perfect,,, very fruity on idle,, and you get the metallic sound that is so typical when using stainless,, on full throttle the engine just sounds as a big V12 FERRARI
here is a link to the system under the car

Looks close to that exposed rubber steering joint, can't you fit the heat protector plate over it?

Bought a s/h ss system about 7 years ago for me 320i. It is a 3/4 system as it attaches to the front pipe. I just had to chop off the flanges.
It is noiser than std but a very nice note
Don't know who manufactured it or anything but it saves buying exhaust systems
