I have an 87 325is non-airbag e30. My steering wheel makes some really annoying creaks and pops. If I push on it diagonally, there is minor play and clunking. Is this from the bearing near the top of the column?
The joint on the engine side is fairly new and seems fine.
Any thoughts on this? Please help. Here is a video of the noise. Thanks.
Steering wheel makes creaks and pops? Bearing? Joint?

My laptop doesn't have sound, so the youtube clip doesn't help me much, but the spring loaded carbon brush for the horn, that pushes against a brass ring on the back of the steering wheel can be responsible for some odd noises on E30s.
