Hi Guys,

My E30 M3 Rep convertible will be near completion within the next few weeks.

I want to have the insurance ready for as soon as the car is ready to take away from the garage as it has had respray/engine conversion/retrim etc.

How do you guys recommend I do this as I really think I should have an agreed valuation.

I'm assuming i can only get the agreed valuation once the car is done though?

I did mine through Peter Best (Brokers) that's for a stripped out, caged, track car - can't remember the exact figure but it was less than £300pa with an agreed valuation of £10k.

How do you go about doing the agreed valuation? Do they need to come out and see the car?

With mine, all I had to do was send 7 original photos and suggest the figure I thought it was worth.

The company reviewed the photos and came back to confirm they were happy with the valuation.

Mine is insured with A plan. They were the only one who would quote.

I found insuring mine fully comp with agreed value and every mod listed cheaper than classic. And you get all the bonuses too.

I have found Sky good for heavily modified cars but Adrian Flux the best for standard (ish) cars

Another shout for Footman James. E30 320i with 3.5 swap, coilovers, all mods declared, agreed value. For a total of £475.............

The £475 was actually for a group policy also including
E32 750i + 6 speed manual box, lowered, wheels
E23 730 lowered, wheels
MK1 MX5 lowered, wheels

Unbelievable value considering I used to get quoted £500+ for an E30 3.5 alone.

Sky quite me £500 for mine, everything declared online Adrian flux came up at £485 but rang them up as the online quote was through compare the market type thing cameback with a quite of £264 fully comp with everything on, protected no claims, she said they can offer better deals over the phone then they do online.

Had the opposite with house insurance too, did a direct line quote on line at £280ish rang up to go through it and the guy says thats £420 please, I only rang up as there online chat wasn't working when I had a question and he said due to that he could offer it at the online price, cheeky Fookers, went elsewhere.
