I've got a Kenwood 10 CD changer, probably about 10 years old, which skips badly whenever I go over anything but the smoothest road surface. It's unlistenable and very annoying. On more than one occasion I've been tempted to rip it out, chuck it in a hole, and set fire to it. Or maybe I'll put it on eBay along with all the other stuff that doesn't work properly.
Having said that... I noticed the problem seemed to almost go away when I left it on the floor of the boot, after unscrewing it from the mounting bracket which suspends it under the rear sheld - aerial side. I'd had it out to clean the lens to see if that helped. Once I'd screwed it back to the bracket the problem came back. It looks like it can't cope with the vibration being transmitted from the rear shelf.
I was thinking it wouldn't be too hard to make something to absorb the vibration, maybe by sandwiching some foam rubber between the changer and the rear shelf.
I wondered is if anyone had any suggestions as to what sort of material would work best and where I could get it from, or if anyone's fixed a similar problem? Any advice would be much appreciated.
