Help! Lower ball joint

Ok so been at this for hours! Trying to remove the front strut! The lower ball joint will not come off! I've tried a scissor type splitter - no joy! I've tried a big hammer - no joy! Any tips please as its really doing my head in!?

I have! Right next to the joint but no luck!

Support the strut with something like a jack so it's firm, and hit the threaded section not the wishbone - put an old nut on top to avoid damage or a punch too the centre divet
