Hi, has anyone done this job before. The runners on the sides of the sunroof mechanism, one side has broken, they look like plastic

I have a replacement part but it looks like i have to change the cable also as the cable looks secured into the slider as a single unit.

Would appreciate any tips please as i'm not sure where to start on this job

Thanks v much

I had to change mine also.. Pretty easy really, just unbolt the 3 bolts on each side of the sunroof lift it off then you can easily take out the lifter rails and swap your new one in. You will probably have to put flat head screw driver or something a little wider than the hole where the mushroom head bolt goes through the rail so you can pull it out.

No need to do anything with the cables

No need to, but 'while you're in there' it makes sense to drop the motor assembly, pull the cables out, clean off all the thirty year old solidified grease, add new grease, and refit. Everything comes apart and goes back together so easily, it makes sense to do a full service while the top panel is off, and old hardened lubricants may be the reason for the breakage in the first place.
Beware of the stainless steel plates. Their edges are razor sharp.
