Ringer?

i might be buying a car later today ( a BMW) but when i put the numberplate into my insurance company website to get a quote it came up as a vauxhaull nova. WTF??? could this car be a ringer? i think i'll check the chassis numbers etc but should i give it a miss?

This is quite common using insurance companys websites. Best to check using the VIN.

yeah, i'll scrutenise the v5 and chassis numbers later. its a minter but i dont want to finish with a stolen car. cheers

I bought a ford Consul a few years back with no log book.
I sent off for one and the DVLA said the reg. no. was on a Lambretta?!!!
In a panic i searched the car for clues and found a soggy old tax disc under the seat, i dried this out and got the reg. from the disc.
It turned out the muppet who made the number plates had got the 7 & the 9 the wrong way round!
Happy with my findings I rang the DVLA back and they said they would send me the log book....next thing i know PC plod is on my front door asking quesions!

weird. rac website also thinks the bmw is a vauxhaull nova merit. i have absolutly no plans of becoming a chav.

Put the reg up and maybe some zoners could do some research for you! Better still put the last 7 of the vin when you can!

checked it with dvla and they say its a nova as well

doesnt even have tax on that!!

can you say why when anyone does a check on this numberplate its comes up as a untaxed Vauxhall Nova instead of a 5 series???

just sent that to him see if we get any sort of reply
