731 head

evening guys have a 320 cab that i have recently purchased .. i have no history on the car ..long story short head is cracked on remomval it seems somebody done some work on the engine the head is 731 head... question is are they available or will another m20 head suit ...thanks John

The 731 head is the head from an m20b20 (320i/520i) there's tons of them about and they should cost you less than £100.

Good 731 heads are readily available second hand, as are complete engines, since the 2.0 litre engine isn't greatly loved in E30 circles.
Second hand head is unlikely to be cracked (unlike the 855 head from the 2.5 engine), but could possibly do with replacement exhaust valve guides and seats recut.
