Hello guys, i'm looking for a little help please
I've recently purchased a 1988 318i E30, and of course i've started doing bits and bobs to it.
Also bought some Jom Blueline Adjustable Coilovers for it as i've read good-ish reviews on them, and one of my front shocks was knackered anyway.
I took the strut housing off of the front passenger side, took the old shock out, and found that the new one from Jom doesnt fit (the strut housing is too narrow)
Now i've never heard of them not fitting any E30, from what i've read at least.
Gentleman at Venom Motorsport where i bought them from told me that its very uncommon for them not to fit, and that my strut housings are of the few that were built a little more narrow than the rest(?)
Does any one know which brands of adjustable coilover are of the narrower kind shock-wise, or am i just better off buying a set of front shock absorber housings from someone cutting an E30 up?
Its also wirth saying that i was ensured the new shocks would fit my car, and the labeling on the box states thier 318i worthy, corresponding with part numbers.
Thanks
Ash

from the wiki:
"Struts come in two sizes: 45mm and 51mm. The bigger size was standard on all 323i and 325i models, all Tourings and all Cabriolets. If you are unsure of what size strut your car has, and you can't remember your maths lessons, then use a bit of string. Wrap the string around the strut, and then measure its length; 141mm means a 45mm strut, and 160mm means a 51mm strut"

As above, there are two different sized struts (45 and 51mm) depending on engine/body. It's not just a 'few' narrower ones
Send the JOM crap back and buy some proper suspension.

I have Gaz Gold on mine and they're brilliant, think they're about £600.
Not sure how low they go though to be honest, I'm more about cornering than low.
