Can an e34 sump be welded successfullly?

Lads,

My s50 with an e34 520 sump has a crack in it.. I am refitting another sump but I would like to fix the damaged one as a spare

Can these be welded successfully?

Yep, I've had lots welded without problems, just make sure you find somebody that knows how to weld cast ally
