Guys,

After speaking with a couple of 'in the know' peeps, they confirmed what ive thought for some time and my car is throwing in way too much fuel and idles at nearly 1k which is probably the answer for my shitty MPG figures..

I installed a Zone chip and TBH im not sure its doing my car any favours at all ATM.. i havent touched the AFM at all since installing it so im probably shorting myself a bit of power plus burnign fuel like crazy AND fkin up my rings if i leave it too long

I will book it into a fast road tune ASAP money permitting, is there any way of adjusting the AFM cheaply and can someone local to me help for the time being.. luckly i dont use the car ofter as its not my A to B ride but just a social cruiser :)

I have the orig Chip still but TBH i dont want to lose that extra power gain i 'think' ive got..

Will i be seeing much gain from the Chip if i havent adjusted my AFM to compersate?

Seems like it chucking in shyte loads of fuel on tickover and at 3k and maybe even 6k but isnt letting in enough air to burn it!

Not very knowledgeable im afraid but am looking for a cheap quick answer ATM

help appreciated

DONT TOUCH THE AFM !!!!!!

The only adjustment on a AFM is for the C02 at idle, it will not affect the idle Rpm, this is contolled by the ICV,TPS and ECU....

yes. also *IF* it's over-fuelling then there's something wrong. mods like zone chip are designed for an engine that is working properly. put the old chip back in and fix what's wrong. then move to the chip.

And I don't know what a "fast road tune" is but it sounds a bit dodgy to me mate. There's nothing to adjust on this car performance wise. find out what this tune involves exactly and report back to the zone there's some good people on here who aint gonna bull shit you cos they don't want your money...

I may be way off base about the tuning thing but it just sounds dodgy... First advice stands though. make car work properly first.. then make is better.

As Kam says, don't touch it. it needs to be set on a CO meter. If you mess with it you'll not pass an MOT most likely, and if you piss around with it too much you mess your idle right up.

Erm.. i aint touching the AFM and i dont plan too.. :?

Im taking the car to 'Solent race n rally' in Portsmouth. to do a complete tune up on the rolling road..

The 'Chip' adjusts the fuel level to use simple terms.. the Air Flow DOES need to be changed to compersate..

Chips cant adjust the air flow they only take car of fuel

If this Chip didnt need me to adjust the Airflow and for it to be set up properly then it would be a standard chip lol

Or at least this is what im l;ead to believe

your chip may require a minor CO adjustment, nothing as severe as you're talking though

listen to hoshy, his advice is spot-on.
