As per the title, I have fitted a new dash but for the life of me i cant get the centre tab to lock into place. Do i need to remove the windscreen to get access to tab.

Any had this problem in the past?

Thanks

Bloody thing!

Yes,it's easy with the 'screen out,but perfectly do-able with it in.
You need to tilt the dash so that the 'screen side is a little higher, then push the bloody thing over the stud on the 'screen lower rail(with the 'screen out,you can lift it over!)
Make sure that the sound deadening stuff is not stopping the dash from locating properly.I have found that once the thing is seated on the heater box,the stud on the screen rail will locate properly, have you replaced the foam on the heater box top?

Hi Malcolm, after spending a whole afternoon trying to tilt lift and such down I gave up...i take your point but fear that i am likely to end up damaging the new dash at the rate I'm going...the screen will have to come out. I have replaced the foam over the heater box whilst the dash was out.

'screen out is no big deal, and it does mean that you can get your fingers under the front edge.

I have swapped dash's both ways, and 'screen out is very much easier, that's the way I did the second dash swap on my touring....'screen had to come out to sort a rust bubble in the l/h corner(caused by a trim bit blocking a drain hole from the factory!)and whilst it was in bits I swapped the cracked dash for a good 'un.

You have the steery wheel off and the column switches dropped?
Doubt that lowering the column it's self will help....
