Help folks my boss at work has given me some money to buy an e30 it's a 325i touring and it won't start serried turning it over starter clicks but nothing else and it got red hot tried to bridge the pins on the diagnostic cap as it said in the wiki still nothing could this be a serious problem or just a duff starter ? Read somewhere about damage to the flywheel possibly help needed quick guys thanx in advance

Put a spanner on the crank shaft nut to confirm the engine turns over by hand.
From there, confirm the engine to body earth strap is in good condition. Try clipping a jumper cable from the block lifting hook (by the oil cap) to the body earth point (right strut tower).
Then put a known good battery on the car, and try starting.

Right earths are all good tried hand cranking and engine won't budge is it possible the starter has jammed something so it won't hand crank advice needed quickly before I have to get new engine

If it's a manual gearbox, putting it in top gear, holding down the clutch, getting it rolling, then bringing up the clutch is likely to do something. Otherwise, disconnect the battery negative lead, unbolt the starter motor and see if it'll turn over on the crank pulley bolt then.

I think my clutch might be buggered there's no bite on it just straight down to he floor

Timing cover taken off belt is in good condition nothing seems wrong in there
