Anyone know what plug this is? Located under the handbrake console, it's not plugged in to anything and hasnt been in my ownership..
It's an EH switchable auto car, but this isn't one of the plugs for the gearbox switch on the console before anyone suggests that.

Power source for car phone?

Not sure why its on your car but that looks a lot like the loom for a illuminated gear knob.
I would be interested in it if it is

Lol i think that's impossible, as it's an auto..
Babs, unless that was standard fitment on all E30's... which is wasn't.. then I'm guessing it ain't a car phone plug!

Tweeter pods weren't standard equipment but the plugs are present behind the wing mirror 'triangles' iirc?

I meant the power lead to a car phone being standard fitment across models. I can see why they would do it for the tweeter pods, because it was an optional extra that i expect a large percentage took up.. but how many did they expect to tick for a car phone at £1500 a pop?

Don't know chum, I'd imagine it's easier to have the wiring there for everything, nature of a production line or sumthin'.
We will have to wait for the Gurus to put us straight.

Red traffic light is the one at the top...
Is the plug live all the time?

There's a stigma we've had to overcome!

I learnt that the hard way!
Not sure, I've not got a multimeter, and todays the first time I've seen it for a year and a half.. and thought I'd get to the bottom of it.

If it's red/grey and brown/white it is for panel lights, and controlled by the dimmer switch.
