Hi all,

Bought a set of 51mm struts this weekend.

Cleaning them up earlier and one strut all was perfect, the other ones spring platform was rotten, cleaned it up with a flap disc on a grinder - then the platform collapsed down the strut body!

Am I right in thinking that when you fit a coiler kit you cut the spring platforms off anyway?

Thanks

Hello JoshH,
below link has some info and prices on weld on front coil over kit for e30, so yes, I'd say your spring perches have to go, otherwise they will be in the way, cheers.

Yes, depending on kit the spring perches need to be cut off and the coil over sleeve welded on.

Provided the strut tube is ok at the height you want to weld the sleeve on then they will be just fine as coilover donors.
