Check control mods???

Just wondering... of all the things all the people have ever done to their E30's...

The check control panel has an empty square panel on the left hand side... so has anyone ever modded it to hold another gauge, warning light, etc in that section???
Is the blank square there for a reason??? I've never seen one that's not blank!!!
Has anyone opened it up and found loads of bits behind there in the way, etc???

Just thinking of other places to 'hide' some possible additions!!!

Ok - so google just showed me some with seatbelt, srs & o2 sensor lights on the left - so if it's blank, there might be space behind there to fit something in???

There's space for lamp holders, but the front panel is opaque, so there's more work required than just fitting bulbs.
