Hi,

I have recently purchased an e30 saloon, my initial issue was the pierburg carb on the engine that was performing poorly.

I got myself a weber 32/34 DMTL which fits my engine. I am not mechanic nor do I have experience in fitting carburettors.

I have been told these can be straight forward an I have looked in the wiki section and also researched online for anything that can help me fit mine and how goes where.

does anyone have any images or step by step guides with images on how to go about this.

please look at the images below and any direction or suggestions are appreciated.

My first issue is fitting the throttle cable to the new carb, am I just removing it from this (second picture) metal frame and if so I then need to fit it to the carb. I have an idea of this but again as I am new any advice or tips are welcomed.

Also as the old air filter bin lid style air filter box will not fit ontop of the weber, this pipe that lead from the engine to the airfilter has nowhere to go, am I removing it and what do I do here??

Image

does anyone know what these hoses are for and where on the carb they are going? Apologies again if these questions are basic.

Image

Also the hose on the left in this picture needs to go somewhere on the carb im presuming as it was pulled from the pierburg.

would really appreciate any feedback and advice, also if you have images for me to follow or links to any kind of step by step videos would be great.

Also I am presuming I need a new air filter for the weber, advice on what I will need would be great too!

Thanks

The old air filter will fit if you have the complete kit - it will include an adaptor plate.
There will be a lot of wires and pipes left over - the Weber is an unsophisticated device compared to the Pierburg, but what it lacks in sophistication, it makes up for in reliability.

do you know where I can get the adaptor plate I need for this carb, I can't find anything on ebay?

Hey JRS, I have some pics I only took yesterday of my Weber on my M10! Mine seems to have kept its thirst for fuel, I used a full tank in 156 miles...!

The right angled pipe in the front goes to the dizzy. The one you can see on the top left of that pic goes to the left hand pipe in your pic of the round thing with 'Pieburg' on top of your engine you posted a pic of.

PS - out of interest what did you pay for the carb? I will be selling mine shortly as the engine is coming out!

Hi Josh,

thanks for the pic that will help, you don't happen to have anymore? Pics of where everything is running to.

Also did you rebuild yours? A friend of mine has suggested I service it and basically rebuild it before fitting it back on, not sure whether to see if it works ok first and if not then do that. Trying to weigh up the costs against the rewards.

I paid £45 on ebay, but I have seen one recently go for around £70 including postage.

Thanks

Mine came already fitted bud. Previous owner did it 8 years ago!

Here's another pic, I will grab some more for you later if I can :)

Thanks man!

any more pics will be greatly appreciated!

you have solved my throttle issue with that pic.

Also any ideas of where I can get the adapter for the airfilter box to fit ontop of the carb?
