Right, having thought, after my recent filling up and watching the fresh fuel pi55 out...

325(7) touring - I thought should have a 67 litre tank???

I drove the car around with gauge showing empty for a couple of days, wondering if I would run out, before I filled it up - but having found my receipt, I only managed to fit in 45 litres of fuel!!!

So I'm assuming/realising, as well as a leak, (unsure if it's the tank or filler pipe at this stage), my fuel gauge is inaccurate, to say the least!!!
It always amazed me how much the needle would rise when I put in £20 of fuel - so presumably, there's about 20+ litres of fuel sitting in the bottom of my tank, on 'empty'!!!
Also explains why my fuel light never came on!!!

So, from some wiser peoples experience, does this point to a particular sender being faulty, or something else???

This is a problem I've come across several times, have you changed your clocks recently?

Sounds like you have a mismatched gauge and sender unit.

Look under your back seat, if you have two sender unit covers you have a 63 litre tank.

If you have motometer gauges the fuel gauge part number should be;

9 3030 150 55

I have just sorted this problem on mine and I have the above gauge spare if you need one.

Aaaahhh, I see!!!

I changed the clocks a long long time ago, so I guess that would be the problem!!!

I do have a new, (newer), set I bought from someone here recently, but not got to swapping them over yet!!!

I'm positive it is the 63 litre tank with two senders!!!

If I have the wrong gauge, can just that part be changed, or will I need another cluster???

You can change just the fuel gauge, I have just done mine it is an easy job, take the clocks out, unscrew the back of the instruments, undo the 8mm nut on the back of the fuel gauge and pull it out, check the fuel gauge part number against the one I gave earlier first on your spare instruments.
If your tank is leaking I just brought one from ATP on ebay, fits o,k for a pattern one.

Just to drag this back up - I've only just got round to dismantling the replacement instrument cluster I have...

Pic below shows the part numbers on the fuel gauge - but neither match the number above, (9 3030 150 55, provided by KW355).
The numbers I found on realoem don't match either, either - it's changed since I last used it so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but realoem shows two options (for my car): petrol gauge 60L 62131381882 / 62131381884

Can anyone confirm for me:
1. The part I have is not correct for my car with 63L tank?
2. Which number on the gauge is the part number?
3. What part (number) should I be looking to get hold of?

Bung it in the cluster, push the plugs back in and turn the ignition on. If the gauge still reads wrong it's for a 55 litre tank, if it reads right it's for a 63 litre tank.
