I've removed my doors on a 2 door chrome bumper 325 and I'm trying to remove the wiring loom from the A pillar. I can't figure out how the loom comes out of the pillar for painting. The plastic plug type thing looks like it just clips out but all I've managed to do is damage the plastic so far.
Any one know how I remove it.

If the doors are off the car, then presumably the door looms are unplugged from the A pillars.
With the plugs out, the small tabs stopping the socket moving back into the pillar should be fairly obvious.

The doors are off and the loom removed from the doors, it looks obvious but won't move.

The idea is to unplug the door looms from the A pillars before removing the doors.
It's very likely that the sockets can't be removed from the A pillars with the plugs still in the sockets. (Don't know for sure, since I've never tried to remove a door using this arse about face method.)

I realise that but the car is 30 years old and it doesn't just want to pop out. I had no choice but to remove the loom from the door. It's old and very brittle plastic.

The plugs don't just 'pop out'. Under the rubber cover there is a plastic piece in the middle that has to be removed first, then the two large tabs are squeezed inwards, to allow trhe plug to be pulled out.
