Also, should the auto box gaiter RND, etc be illuminated when lights are on?

RND should be illuminated all the time the ignition is on. There's a small capless bulb clipped to the selector lever that might be blown, but the most common problem is that the wires between the bulb holder and the nearby plug and socket fracture internally.
