right i'll say it before mr moooooooooooore comes steaming in.

no such car as a e30 coupe on a 2 door saloon :D

as for the debate? 2 door saloon everyday, cabby looks something you'd drive because you were to scared to ride a motorbike.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
getting oral sex off an ugly person is like rock climbing.....don't look down ;)

Cab with the roof down is perfection (as long as there are no rear headrests). Saloon is better than a cab with the roof up though, so I agree with Rav.

I think a cab without rear headrests looks odd. :)

A zoner posted a build thread on this baby - it is one of the nicest cabs I have seen. I think the rear headrests make it! :D

Hahah. Yes, I forgot the rear rests can house the screens, innit! :)

However, without them, cabs look like a pram!

Rear headrests are a must and spoiler looks good as well especially since the roof is up more than it is down due to our sh*tty weather :-x

On the scale of e30 coolness, from uncool to cool:

1. Estates
2. 5 Door saloons
3. Coupe
4. Baur Coupe
5. Cabby

Hope I got the lingo right there

I used to be all about the saloon's when i had mine (and still am to an extent that it is the better all round E30 ) but the cabby came up at a good price and super clean so I bought it and I don't regret it for a second.. 8)

Its not as solid as a saloon through the corners (obviously) but getting the hood down for the 2days of good weather we have :chuckle: and giving it a blast with the M30 in there puts a smile on my face. .

To the OP: The saloon is always going to be the better car its common sense.. You should drive them both...see which one you prefer...simples :thumb:

As somebody who was around when these were company car fodder here's my ten penneth!
Touring everytime due to the fact that they just look right! and were always driven by the discerning! Saloons were predominately driven by yuppies and pensioners!, Of course 325's or evo's were for the senior Yuppies. Cabs and verts were, and still are a nice looking piece of kit that meant you were still a yuppie but your hair was a permanent mess and you couldn't take your Black Labrador everywhere with you!
Let me remind you that Barbour wax jackets and Black Labradors were a serious status symbol in the 80's and they looked so wrong in a drop top!
So there you go the definitive reason why tourings will always be the coolest e30 ever, and yes I still have an olive Barbour and a Black Labrador. Fundamentally a Touring is a complete e30  anything else just had more bits missing when it left the factory :D :D : Please bear in mind I'm obviously not biased at all.............honestly....................er honestly!!!

Ive had both and if I had to choose one or the other it would be hard.

The thing id ask myself is which has less rust, which is likely to be worth more in the future and when and how often will you be driving it. Will it be a show car, or a bit of fun.

If you go with convertible you will definitely want a hardtop.

Also what are the trim specs and engine sizes, this may have an effect on which you keep as well.

I had a tumble drier in the back of a 2 door quite easily, you couldn't do that with a 4 door :D

Personally i would restore the cabby and get a proper factory hardtop for the winter months. This way you have the joy of the roof down in the summer, but the comfort of a hardtop during the winter...(this is what i have done).

op: you should not have to ask such questions.

Seeing though you already have, you will get as you already have mixed opinions and it will leave you confused which you might be.

As its been mentioned before I would suggest that you take both of them on a nice cruise and come back to a cuppa and decide which out the 2 was more pleasurable to drive.

Take factors such as what you, your mind and heart think and follow that. at the end of the day it will be you that will be reaping the joys of which ever one you choose.

Good Luck pal.
