Just get a standard LSD, will last for ages even if you abuse it heartily daily(Providing you get a sound one to start with). Its just not worth getting an uprated one unless you want to become a professional cock action hero when standard ones can be found so cheap.

DR Engineering produce "Gripper" diffs - e30 model out in april @Ԛ£750 - these are proper bits of kit engineered for competitopn applications - but if you are on a budget secondhand stock ones are cheap as chips
a mate of mine who does drift competitions is having a bespoke one for drifting made by gripper for his corrolla/vx hybrid

I have an uprated LSD. It is the standard big case with the internals from (what I was told anyway) a 2L touring car that used to race here (E36). It cost about AUD $1000 including being completely rebuilt with lapping and stuff and using redline oil (with no friction modifier I think). If I just lift up one wheel I can't turn it by myself at all. I think it is set to 80-90lbs of preload.
It seems to work well and I am happy, maybe something like that could be an option for you if it is cheaper than a new LSD from one of those other places. I don't know how much one of them would cost.

im on my second diff in two years. running 40% lock on a 3:64
need 3:64 strong with 60 - 70% lock..
I forgot to mention that I have had my diff for 2 years and in that time I have done about 16-20 autocross (dirt) events and probably the same number again of track days and sprint events at circuits. I got it checked out a few weeks ago and it was still in good condition so it seems to be reasonably strong, although my 323i isn't putting out a lot of power.
That option probably wouldn't be any help for you anyway because the touring cars probably don't have 3.64 diffs, mine is a 4.1.

Is it the diff or the LSD unit that you're breaking? If it's the diff, there's no way you can make it any stronger.
The Quaife LSD units don't actually lock, which may be no good for your application.
The Kaaz LSD units are basically just an adjustable (via a stripdown) version of what you've already got.
A properly built OEM ZF LSD unit should be strong enough for any NA BMW 6 cylinder engine, and the locking can be set during assembly.
If you're simply wearing out the clutch plates so the diff isn't locking as efficiently, a 4 plate upgrade on the standard LSD unit is fairly straight forward and cost effective, which will make the LSD more durable and pleasant to use. (It wouldn't actually be any 'stronger' tho'.)
I use a 4 plate 75%ish two way locking set up with a 3.2 Evo engine without having had any problems to date. (70-80Lb pre-load.)
Heat is the primary enemy of these diffs, they'd benefit from a larger casing/higher oil capacity, an oil cooler is an option. (As used by some endurance racers.)

tom seal is the guy you want to speak to
I can't see the point in a Gripper LSD unit at Ԛ£750.
They're using the same principal as the OEM ZF LSD unit, with a small amount of engineering work and a Ԛ£120 rebuild kit the ZF will do the same job.
ZF LSD units are tried, tested and proven in competition use with E30 M3s, GP4 MKII Escorts, Opel Mantas, Cosworths etc. Good enough for any normally aspirated 6 cylinder BMW application imo.
