Hi

I need some Zone help...

I want/need a new exhaust for my 325i Auto Convertible.
I fancy a full system from the Manifold but it seems I have a problem getting what I want, straight pipes, not offset or pissed and no DTM or 4" anti suicide pipes...
I like the look of the Mongoose system on the Zone shop but it's comes only in a 3 piece system and my mechanic says the exhaust I require is a 2 piece system. Is this correct ?

If this is the case then what set up do you guys recommend...

Thanks

Stick with a standard 2 piece upto the centre section and get a Sebring back box. The BMW centre section is actually very very good and makes that nice humming noise. The Sebring will give you the straight pipes and a very nice noise.

The Sebring back box is not on the zone shop, only the full system. I will add this as soon as I can.

I would have had Scoprion on the shop if it wasnt for the fact that they lose you so much low end torque. This is something I saw on my own car on a dyno - dramatic loss of torque upto 3000rpm compared to a standard 325i system.

I will be able to tell you about the Sebring + price on Monday.

Great let me know this is a defo mate as the car is currently getting the Head worked on as I blew the gasket so while it's in I would like this done.

I don't fancy the Scorpion exhaust.. It's not to bad on the M3 because it has the looks and the go for the noise... but on the 325 it's not about that...

Thanks Mate

I'm working away for next week so if you can help I will give you my number...

I've got a sebring on my touring, and the noise is fantastic, not loud, and annoying, but it's enough to make you look and notice it.
They look spot on in the valence cutout too.

Scorpion never seems to sound the same from car to car, and the centre boxes never seem to last.

And as for scorpion on the M3....don't even go there!! Absolute rubbish!!

Ripped mine off, and into the nearest bin....and what a difference afterwards!!

There has been so much demand for the Sebring that Sebring have started making their exhaust again for the E30. Only 7 were left when i first found out about them from Simon and a few other Zoners.

I fitted it to Nad325's car and I really liked it. Very nice noise and they are superbly built and are known to last very long unlike the scorpions which start falling apart inside very quick.

You have an M3 aswell?

Supersprint are serioulsy highly rated on these cars. They do a Racing system which according to Simon makes amazing noises.

Very very high quality stuff - certainly better than the likes of Scorpion.

560 quid after 15% discount.

Build quality and materials used are certainly superior on supersprint - and its by a long long way!

The supersprint racing system is fully stainless, no cats in the centre section.

My money wouold be on the supersprint to be ahead in every area - power, build, fit and especially noise.

Heres some pics:

I currently have a full standard system on my M3, it came off a 31k M3 evo II, thanks to C76jon, who kindly donated it to me!

But..I am currently awaiting delivery of the system shown above by Sal, as the M3 isn't my daily drive, I'm not too bothered about the noise, but be aware that the racing system is noisy!!

If you don't want anything too loud, go for the Milltek, they are fairly quiet, but give the right noise when needed.

Scorpion are known power sappers, my car was about 25bhp down on 2 other E30 M3's at a rolling road a few months back, and I had a scorpion fitted.
When I removed the system, it had cracks on the welds in 3 different places.

Yes thats for both.

You could go for the mild steel Supersprint if you want less noise.

Miltek are also on the Zone shop at around 470.

Haha yeah, on e-bay, I thought you had done a runner after winning the bidding!

Have you got it fitted yet? And don't worry, it was the centre section that was scrap!

Hello Mate..

Yeah I have had it fitted it's not to bad,it certainly looks better but it was only a temp solution.
I didn't like the DTM at the time but some times I think it looks alright..
But it does now seem to have a slight vibration at around 2k its not to bad but it affects my old mans back and he moans.. but i'm not complaining..
Because I'm only at that point for a very short while...

Sorry about that delay but the timing of my Mum passing you was a result as I got free carriage for a 500 mile round trip..

Nice car by the way my Mum had a few shots of it..

So you think the SuperSprint is the way to go...

I've gone for the supersprint as I'm not bothered about the noise, I have no experience of the mild steel systems with centre boxes.
Milltek is quiet, but sounds nice when giving it some, certainly sounds better than standard. Milltek have also sorted out they're previous quality problems, so should be no problem there!

Your mum liked my dog!

Ok I think that maybe the Milltek would be the way to go..

But do you know anything about the Borla system or Larini I have seen the Borla setup on S14.net and it looked sweet but sounded better..

My Mum was once a K9 beautician or a doggy hairdresser if your common so she has a thing for dogs...

Nothing unusal though.

I can vouch for the sebring being unobtrusive at low revs.. AND for Simon's dog.. both Cool!!!

Thinking about going the jetex.. but need to sort out the engine before i can do anything.. or a new touring! winkeye winkeye

Borla and larini, good build quality, but I haven't seen any performance comments, so would be unfair to comment.

For the M3 I'd go for the Milltek/supersprint, for the 325i go for standard boysen, of if you want a slighly amplified straight six noise, go for a sebring.

Nice one

Sorted then..
When I'm more serious about the M3 system I'll ask again..

Thanks
