My steering rack is gone, so i need a new one, i use the car as a daily driver at the moment, i dont drift or anything, is there a better rack i can go for than the standard? apparantly e46 cs racks are good but i dont know if i will benefit as i dont race it or drift or anything.

E46 racks (or E36) are a good upgrade for a road car, but not quite a straight swap. DanThe supplies the modified bits, if you don't want to do any fabrication yourself.

Z3 racks are ridiculously expensive compared to an E46 rack.
Get yourself an E46 purple tag rack (part number ending 067) and you won't look back. As Brian says, you will need to do a bit of work on the power steering pipes and steering linkage or contact DanThe for all the bits you need.

He's got a z3 rack that he says he can fit to my car for £170, he says they don't need custom uj's or anything

Iv got a z3 rack one of my favourite upgrades! I had the e36 one before but didn't feel as sharp my other car is a r52 cooper s the e30 now feels just as sporty. After loads of shopping around found the rack for £140 and paid 50 to fit. You will need new hoses made up standard uj works fine. Only difference I found is one of the ridged pipe mounts didn't line up but nothing a good cable tie can't fix.

For anybody interested I now have a return pipe made up to fit the 2.7 turn Z3 rack with the offset mounting hole, will gladly do an exchange service for a small fee to cover the fresh zinc and new rubber hose that the old pipe will be getting upon return

Sorry I can't remember I did the e36 rack ages ago and they the same on z3. If I will ask my mate tomorrow and let you know. It couldn't have been a lot, you probably better off going with the retun pipe from Danthe rather than the cable tie lolSambe30 wrote:How much did you pay for the hoses mate?
