Knackered spark plugs, oily inlets, metal shards in pickup

Hi guys,

Gone to stick my M52 in and found the spark plugs are really clogged up and knackered, the inlets are wet with oil inside and out, and there are shards of metal in the oil pickup. Not magnetic so either aluminium or copper I'm guessing.

Long story short, I need to make a decision. What do we think could be the cause and is it worth continuing with the conversion or is it not worth the risk of the engine blowing up? Photos below:

that is not good news, she's been burning a lot of oil, probably the rings are gone, the aluminum in the oil pickup is probably from a piston skirt that has broken up. It suggests she has done quite a few miles and worn out, pull her down and rebuild or hunt up a good/used m52, but don't waste your time fitting it, it's in self destruct mode.

Most m5x's are leggy turds by now. Strip and rebuild would be my suggestion, at least you know it will be good
