Thing is Dan, I'm taking the block to be chemically cleaned to rebuild standards, same place that done my cylinder head, and he's insisting that to do it properly the plugs have to come out.

Beginning to wish i;d gone down the M52 route now.

45mm and BMW are the only supplier of that particular size.
Unless anyone knows different pf course.

I bought a new Carpet for the Cecotto, at time of order it was £460, when the carpet arrived (296 days later) it was £730!

Lucky for me my dealer honoured the ordered price.

I have a block with the plugs out at the moment, I also have some OEM plugs that I bought a while ago (about £20 IIRC ) I'll measure them both for you. But in the meantime hear is something to think about;

If there is a problem starting them in the hole a file will help, then just whack away with a socket, the plug must be an interference fit and will deform to fit the hole. A smear of setting sealer can be used too, but they should seal anyway as long as the hole is in good condition and clean.

Only use a socket thats just small enough to fit on the edge of the plug, if you use a small socket on the centre you run the risk of collapsing the plug and it wont seal.

Exactly Dan, 45mm is either slightly too big or too small, can't
remember which tbh.

Was this recently? Did it come with the plastic heel pad?

Yes only last month. Unfortunately there is no heel pad, foot rest pad or accelerator rubbing pad, lucky for me the Cecotto came as standard with the ///M footrest which will cover the pad anyway and the floor mats will hide the heel ones.

Im in two minds about keeping it, just seems like a total over sight from BMW Classic!

Yo, sorry for the late reply on this, no sorry can't sell the plugs that I have as I would then be in the same position as you

However the good news is, the core plugs measure 45.35mm, if you check out the ebay ad I posted up it says the the plugs they have are 0.25-0.40mm over the stated size, so these I feel would be perfect for your application.

light seals I can just about swallow (because of the cost to repair the damage caused by water in your boot), but £11.20 for a small section of foam is a bit much given that the bonnet sound insulation is about 20 times the size and only £40.

10 under dash panel plastic screws, 10 clips for holding the plastic rub strips onto a preface bumper, 2 preface and 2 facelift rear light seals and 2 toolkit foams, before discount - £83,10.
