Induction kits - talk to me!!

Been looking at an induction kit for my 325i as I want to strip and service the AFM and I'd fit a new air cleaner element while the box is off anyway so why not spend a bit more and replace the OEM box with a cone - if nothing else it will sound even sweeter.

Brushing aside the unbranded junk I'm looking at two similar kits, a K&N at around £80, and a Ramair kit at around £45. Gut instinct says go with the K&N, it just looks better quality.

So any thoughts, ideas, alternatives etc?

Basically the car is OEM spec, no other mechanical mods, and any mods would need to be reversible.

Its a waste of time. No gains plus it looks council.

If you must mess with the intake then put a K&N panel filter in the original air box, but again, no tangible gains.

Cone filters are gay, they pull in hot air from the engine bay and dont filter the air properly

There's a wiki page that proves aftermarket filters are worse than the OEM box. Just leave it alone.

That's a big no all round then. Know what you mean about 'looking council', I'd always said as the car was so original when I bought it there'd be no mods, but as it would be hidden away under the bonnet and easily reversible I could live with it.

Advice taken, and a new OEM element will be going back in.
