Hi all,

Another plea for help I'm afraid :( This time about power windows. I've done a search, and nothing I've found addresses my issue.

The door switches aren't fitted/plugged in if that alters anything. All testing with the ignition on. The passenger window works fine, and I've swapped the switches over and the problem is still the same.

With the driver's window, which is stuck down in the door, when I press the switch, in either direction, the motor clicks/strains for a second or so, and then stops. The regulator makes no attempt to move. I assume it's not a wiring issue, but rather, a seized motor/gearing. Given the window is at the bottom of the door, even if I unbolt the regulator, I won't be able to remove it. Is there a way to move it up manually so I can remove it and strip the motor for repair? (I don't have the funny tool thing.) Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Cheers,
Joe

If you take off the door card you'll have access to the bolts that hold the scissor mechanism in place. If you undo those you should be able to pull the window up by hand, then set about greasing the side rails to take all the strain off the motor.

Excellent, thanks. I didn't think of that.

I've got the passenger regulator sat on the side at home, so I can at least easily cross reference to see what I'm doing.

Cheers :)
