And it must feel good now all that gear is finally in a completely rot free shell Oz. Think back, this was exactly the conversation we had on the phone a couple of years back when I found that white low miles 316 up north.
It does mate, the Sterling shell had a few issues when originally re shelled, had some those repaired but rust came back, combined with some really nasty winters before I started garaging the car.... still, we got 8 years motoring out of it so not all bad.

This time we start with a much much better shell, and garaged for the winter, its all good.

Remember that convo, just bad timing money wise, all worked out in the end though :)

227bhp on the last dyno run :)

still going strong!! feels abit more lively in this poverty spec shell, no ABS, manual sunroof and thin carpet plus no ICE in the boot mean she is a bit lighter...

I think Barry was rather impressed driving it

Had this issue (I think) on my 325i auto, never solved, 2 diffs and wheel bearings later put on 4 poster and told - diff!? Sold it and now my guess would be prob bearing? or transmission output bearing? Interested to see if this gets sorted, good luck.

Here you go Trev...

Had this for 5 years before that trip, loved that crusty old turd.
Untold amount of hours spent by quite a few zoners so it was running for that trip.
Here she is on the way out....
