As the title says, are the PAS steering racks the same between E30s? I need a new one and am looking at the GSF/ECP offerings. They list different choices for different cars, but in my garage I have my original broken iS rack which looks the same as two other broken 325i racks which I was lucky enough to buy, and I'm not sure where the incompatibility is.
Anyone have any ideas?
Also, does anybody know who reconditions these racks? I wonder if I might be able to do a deal whereby rather than exchanging 1 old for 1 new I could exchange 3 old ones for 1 new one at a more favourable price. It would certainly help a pauper.

M40 engine has it's own rack - as I found to my cost when looking for one. Decent S/H ones are as rare as rocking horse sh*t!!!!!!!

So is it going to be the same problem on an M42 engined car then? What is the actual difference?
